Women's Professional Musician Club
Women's Professional Musicians Club

In an atmosphere of camaraderie, good food and fun, The Women's Professional Musicians Club meets monthly at members' homes. Their purpose is to help support each other with all of life's trials and celebrations, meet new people, improve professional skills and to fulfill our desire of spreading the joy of music to the world!

Jennifer started The Women's Professional Musicians Club after seeing the good works and friendship in women's clubs where she performed. Almost thirteen years ago, when the Women's Clubs of Illinois and Northern Indiana were auditioning for entertainment acts, Jennifer was asked to provide music during their luncheon. When the day was over, the telephone began ringing off the hook with requests for a "program" for other women's club meetings.

Jennifer has been playing for women's clubs ever since. In addition, she was inspired to start a club for women like herself. So in October of 2004 Jennifer founded The Women's Professional Musicians Club. She is the president of the Club.

From the last meeting...

Laura treated us to us to High Tea pool side and for our program, "Yummies & Yoga for You!"
We ran out of time and were unable to play the arrangement from the movie, "The Illusionist" but hopefully next time!

Thank you all so much for your love, support and inspiration for keeping the club going!
"Notes" from the meeting:  We have had more correspondence from the gals in New Orleans, and if you would like to know more of what is going on there and would like to help, please contact Ruth Tobias.  They want to start a club there, too!  The General Federation of Women's Club International Dinner is being held in Chicago next year and they have contacted me for providing music  I have presented them a proposal and customized their creed to the tune of "Edelweiss" and would like to share it with all of you: (yes, we sang it today, too!)

Keep us God, strong in love and
Kindness to all we meet here.
Teach us how, we can see
Beauty in one another.
Grant that we realize our specialness,
Make us calm and gentle.
Let us be unafraid
Guide us women united.

From our last month's meeting event:

Our program speaker Heidi Potts (seated on the steps) stretched the summer out for us on this beautiful day.  Seated to her left are:  Sara Vettraino, Nancy Fako, Horn; the backs of Ruth Tobias, Laura Fako, Dee Hagari, Kristen Dykema-Wiersum, violinist (new in town from the Dayton Philharmonic, but originally from this area), and Iordanka Kissiova.

L-R:  Ruth, Laura, her sister violinist Lisa Fako, Dee, Kristen Wiersum (new in town - please call her!) & Iordanka.
Can you see how relaxed Heidi is getting us?  Especially after having homemade Raspberry-Lemon Shortbread Tart!  Thanks for making copies of the recipe for everyone, Laura!

Okay, Lisa is REALLY relaxed and over by the pool ready to jump in is talented violinist, Heather Boehm!
On another "note"...Heidi would be happy to have a class just for us.  She also has with her husband a fantastic marina that I think might be a future retreat for us:  music and yoga and fun in the sun!
Check out the site:  www.oaklandmarina.net
If you have any questions about relaxation stretches you can do on the gig while sitting in your chair or if you just want to know more about the healthful benefits of yoga, you can contact Heidi atraggymom@aol.com and please put WPMC in the subject line.
